About a dozen children were among some 22 people who were displaced by an early morning fire at a Spring Valley home today. Firefighters arrived around 5 a.m. and saw residents hurrying down a ladder to escape the towering inferno at 49 Bethune Blvd. Spring Valley Fire Chief Ken Sohlman says that the residents are incredibly lucky to have escaped alive, as the building appears to have been illegally subdivided and overcrowded. "They have to put bedrooms everywhere and it makes it very hard for us to search," Sohlman said.
