Police say no injuries or property damage were reported after four gunshots were fired in front of 2520 Barker Ave. in Allerton, Wednesday morning.

"I was laying around on the couch with my headphones in, and I thought it was fireworks at first because they were throwing fireworks last night," said one neighbor, who asked not to be shown or identified.

Surveillance video shown to News 12 showed a man walking down the sidewalk when a dark colored car came speeding down the road from behind him.

"I didn't think much of it until I heard the car going away and I was like 'OK - those are shots, not actual fireworks,'" the neighbor said.

The car then continued to speed down the street, passing both a daycare and a senior living building.

"I know gunshots, I know when I hear gunshots," said Hopeton Clarke, who lives in the senior building. "I just stayed in my home. I don't want to get shot."

In the surveillance video, it is not clear exactly where the shots came from, and police say they are not sure either.

The NYPD does say they were no bullets or shell casings found at the scene nor any reports of injuries or property damage.

"It was just a 'What was that moment? '" said the neighbor. "I was like, 'Let me hang low' until I see - and then I see a bunch of people going around, and then i went outside to check."

Newly released data from the NYPD show that before this, there had only been four shootings in the 49th precinct so far in 2026.

"This area is nice, if this happened today, it's the first time it ever happened, and I've been here 12 years already," said Carmen Hernandez, who lives in the senior building.

Police say they are looking for a man in dark clothes and a woman in a white t-shirt who were on the sidewalk, as well as a second man who they say was driving the car.
