Gas prices across
the country have dipped slightly over the past few weeks, but don’t expect that
trend to continue, according to AAA.
Right now, the
average in New York is $3.53. That's down about two cents since just a week
ago.

According to AAA, here are the average
prices per gallon across the Hudson Valley;
- Westchester
County - $3.72
- Rockland
County - $3.67
- Orange County
- $3.50
- Dutchess County - 3.55
Last week, the average price for a
gallon of regular in Westchester was $3.74.
But Robert
Sinclair Jr. with AAA says that it is most likely to rise through the Christmas travel
season. "With that many people out
traveling and on the road that leads to demand going up and prices going up. So
prices might be a little lower now, but where they'll go in the near future is really a crap shoot. But I
have a feeling they're going to level out, if not go up in the next couple,
three weeks."
"I live in Dutchess, They're just as high up there. It's costing a lot more to fill up my gas tank every week," says driver Mark Redahan.
Tina Warada, from Yorktown, is wishing gas prices would drop lower and faster. "It's tough, especially around Christmastime and coming out of the pandemic. People are short on money to begin with - and now to get back to work and pay so much more than we're used to, it's very difficult."
AAA recommends making sure your tires are properly inflated, and your car is in good running condition to try and save gas.
