A local community activist and army veteran will be inducted as the Bronx representative to the New York State Veteran's Hall of Fame this Memorial Day.
Sal Conforto served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966 as a military police officer. He later served in the 7th Infantry Division when he was deployed to South Korea.
Conforto immigrated to the U.S. from Italy and was raised in East Harlem.
The veteran was nominated by Sen. Jeff Klein (D - The Bronx) and has been extremely active in many civic concerns.
