Adventureland in East Farmingdale is closed Thursday and will have a delayed opening on Friday due to a power outage and extreme heat, park officials announced.
A decision to delay opening on Thursday came around 9:30 a.m., 90 minutes before the park was scheduled to welcome guests starting at 11 a.m. Park officials later announced that the theme park would not open at all on Thursday and will not welcome guests until Friday at 4 p.m.
According to PSEG Long Island, crews responded to an outage in East Farmingdale around 7:15 a.m. after a primary wire came down in two locations.
News 12 saw crews working on two poles along the border of Adventureland and the neighboring Target parking lot.
A Target spokesperson said: "[The store] had no operational disruptions. We were able to remain open this morning on generator power and the store remains open now."
PSEG said it expected to finish repairs on Thursday.
Adventureland is slated to be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
