A Dutchess County man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for stabbing his mother and killing her neighbor back in May 2020.

The Fishkill Police Department says on its Facebook page that Peter Churchill stabbed his mom numerous times at their home in Fishkill. Then, while fleeing the scene, Churchill hit a 71-year-old man with his car.

Churchill's mother was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she was treated for serious injuries.

The neighbor underwent emergency surgery and died.
