A terrifying experience for a Monroe family took place Monday as two armed thieves disguised as deliverymen forced their way into a home.
Monroe police say at around 7:15 p.m. a man standing with a package outside a home on Stage Road announced to the residents that he had a delivery for them. They say the man said someone needed to sign for the package. That's when Saverio Perriello, who was home with his wife and granddaughter at the time, opened the door. He was greeted with a gun in his ribs and then watched as the suspect signaled for his partner.
Police say the two men made off with more than $25,000 in cash and rare coins. Anyone with information is asked to call Monroe police at 782-8644.
