An Armonk man was charged for trying to stab a police officer multiple times.

North Castle police responded to a medical call for an older woman at a home on Hallock Place on May 20.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect, 38-year-old Joseph Spennato, who had warrants out for his arrest.

Investigators say Spennato tried to stab an officer in the back multiple times during the arrest.

Police say another officer shot Spennato two times and he was taken to the hospital.

On Tuesday night, Spennato was arraigned on an aggravated attempted murder charge at the hospital.

He will be taken to the Westchester County Jail without bail when he gets out of the hospital.
