A Buffalo Bills trainer was hailed as a hero for saving Damar Hamlin's life, and now a local trainer is being recognized for similar action.
During a game against Sacred Heart, Army hockey player Eric Huss suffered a serious cut to his neck from a skate.
Trainer Rachel Leahy rushed to his side preventing a potential life-threatening situation. "Obviously couldn't tell the structures that were damaged, but you could tell it was very severe and that was all I need to know," says Leahy.
"All of us were kind of in shock. It was chaos. There was one person that was a calming influence, and that was Rachel," says Army hockey head coach Brian Riley.
Leahy was honored by West Point at its most recent home game.
She was named the Atlantic Hockey Association's Player of the Week.
Huss is expected back on the ice in a few weeks.
