Democratic attorney general candidate Andrew Cuomo picked up an endorsement Friday by Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Greenburgh) who represents parts of Westchester and Rockland counties.
Surrounded by county lawmakers outside Planned Parenthood in Greenburgh, Lowey cited Cuomo?s record for fighting for women and families. Lowey went on to describe Cuomo's achievements as secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Clinton administration. Westchester County Executive Andy Spano also gave Cuomo his backing, saying he is the one to fill Eliot Spitzer?s shoes.
Cuomo is leading in the polls over Democratic rivals Mark Green, Charlie King and Sean Patrick Maloney, but only participated in one televised debate with them. The Democratic primary is September 12.
