History was made in Mount Kisco this weekend as Karine Patino was sworn in as the first Hispanic trustee Sunday afternoon.
Leaders in the village are embracing this important moment.
"Our community has a very large Latinx population, folks who are from South America predominately, and so it's wonderful that there's someone who stepped forward to ensure that that voice is represented," says Mount Kisco Mayor Gina Picinich.
Patino is an immigration attorney in Mount Kisco and is the daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants.
