Orange County prosecutors say Chantal Mason was supposed to be sentenced Wednesday for the 2023 incident but that she couldn’t because the defendant failed to follow court orders, requiring her to meet with probation for a pre-sentencing report.
Mason was given two months to comply, and the district attorney’s office says it's now recommending an “enhanced sentence” of up to a year in jail, instead of 60 days, as a result.
Mason pleaded guilty to reckless assault in December for the incident caught on a nanny cam. The child suffered minor physical injuries after being shoved into a couch and struck multiple times.
News 12 reached out to her attorney for comment but hasn’t heard back.
Mason is due back in City of Newburgh court April 17.
