Bear sightings are becoming increasingly common in the Hudson Valley.
A bear was recently spotted at a Dunkin’ drive-thru near the garbage can on Tuesday. One customer recorded a video of the bear while picking up their morning coffee.
Another bear was spotted in Rockland's Chestnut Ridge area stealing from someone's bird feeders.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says black bear activity increases in June due to breeding season and young bears searching for their own territory.
To avoid unwanted bear visits, residents can take the following steps:
Secure your garbage cans. Only take out the trash right before pickup and don't leave it out overnight.
Consider removing bird feeders.
Always watch pets when they're outside.
