Westchester County Executive George Latimer says the county will once again lift the fares on the Bee-Line Bus system, including Bee-Line ParaTransit, starting on July 1.
County officials say this initiative, which has been implemented for the past few years, is meant to support local communities, ease transportation costs for families, and encourage the use of public transit. They note that more than 65% of Westchester County residents live within walking distance of a Bee-Line Bus stop, making the service easily accessible.
Officials also emphasize that more people tend to travel during the summer season. With numerous fun events happening across the county, the free bus service can make getting around easier and more affordable for everyone. Additionally, it can help reduce traffic congestion.
The county executive is scheduled to make the announcement later today, but it is understood that the fare-free period will run from July 1 through Sept. 2, giving residents about a month before the initiative kicks in.
