WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Temperatures will be trending cold through the midday hours and then trend frigid later today as a cold front moves through the Hudson Valley.
  • This cold front will come through at a quick pace, bringing some moisture from the Great Lakes this way. This will allow a snow shower chance to be possible as the cold front passes by this afternoon. Any snow showers that come around could briefly reduce visibility.
  • Overnight into Friday morning, as the winds back down, the chill will settle down all across the region. Friday morning has the chance to being one of the coldest mornings we've seen in a while for that date as records could fall.
  • The record is 14 degrees, set in 1966, and the forecast low is 15 for White Plains. Areas to the north and west could see morning low temps into the single digits.
  • A system will be just to the south of the region on Friday afternoon. It will try to bring some snow showers to areas to our south and east, with counties like Westchester seeing a snow shower of flurry chance. We'll be watching closely that system's track to see if more counties could get snow showers Friday afternoon. Drier conditions are looking to move in for the entire weekend across the Hudson Valley. Temps will be trending a little colder than average, with the normal high being 46 degrees.
  • By Monday, another cold front will have moved through the region, making temperatures feel extra frosty. Right now, records are not likely to be broken, but we could see daytime highs struggling to get out of the 20s.
