Black pioneer in journalism finally has grave marked in Yonkers
John Edward Bruce, who founded several New York newspapers more than 100 years ago and advocated for equal rights, received a permanent headstone on Saturday in Oakland Cemetery. He had been buried in an unmarked grave for over a century.
