Dozens of people braved the cold and rain Tuesday to donate blood in honor of Jimmy McNicholas.
The Pearl River bartender was killed last May after being struck by a hit-and-run driver as he was crossing Middletown Road. Orangetown police say they are still working on the case, but never arrested anyone for his death.
John Wood says he organized the drive to honor his friend's legacy and help those in the community in need of blood. He also wants to put McNicholas' name back in the news in hope anyone with information about his death might come forward.
