A Blooming Grove family that lost everything in a devastating house fire received a truckload of donations filled with clothing, house wares and toys Wednesday.
The Yagers lost everything two Sundays before Christmas after a fire ripped through their home. All seven Yagers survived, but 12-year-old James was released from the hospital Christmas Eve. The family is now staying with relatives in Mahwah, New Jersey.
The Mountain Lodge Fire Company helped rescue the Yagers from the fire and spearheaded collections for the family. So much came in, the Yagers are keeping the donations at a storage unit until they find a new home.
?It made me realize that there is a real God out there. It drove me closer to my kids. And let me know that there's nice people left in this world,? said Jim Yager, about the community?s generosity.
The storage company is also pitching in. It is not charging the Yagers for the first month-and-a-half. And after that, it is offering deep discounts, so the family can keep its stuff there as long as it needs.
The Yagers are grateful for all the support. They say they are on their way to recovery.
