Commissioner Betty Rosa made the announcement Tuesday, calling Chin "integral" in ensuring equity for students and implementing learning standards throughout the state's classrooms.
She takes over the position following the departure of Emerita Josephine Finn.
Her term as vice chancellor is April 1, 2024 through March 30, 2025.
