A bomb threat forced the evacuation of a Rockland County school this morning.
Clarkstown police tell News 12 that someone called New City Elementary School this morning and said a bomb was going to go off.
The superintendent of schools says evacuation was calm and orderly as children were bused to Clarkstown South High School.
Parents were able to pick up their kids there shortly after. "These situations are taken very seriously. We want to make sure that the safety and security of all our school community is first and foremost," says Clarkstown Central School District Superintendent Marc Baiocco
Police say bomb dogs from Clarkstown and the county sheriff's office were used to check the school but did not find anything. "The why is the safety of the children. These can take a long time. They're manpower extensive," says Clarkstown Chief Jeff Wanamaker.
