Hundreds of women marched through the Bronx Monday in memory of one woman who was killed as a result of domestic violence. Seven years ago Monday, Gladys Ricart was posing for her wedding pictures with her family when she was shot and killed by an abusive ex-boyfriend. The marchers say they want to raise awareness about an issue that is often kept quiet. The idea for the Brides' March Against Domestic Violence came from one woman who was outraged over media reports suggesting Ricart brought the murder upon herself by getting remarried. Marchers say people need to remember victims individually, not as a domestic violence statistic. The mayor's office says last year, 23 people were killed as a result of family related homicides in the Bronx.
