The Sea.Hear.Now festival is just over a week away in Asbury Park and organizers want guests to check out the local shops in the city in between watching their favorite bands.
Luke Mesanko showed off his latest merchandise at Wanderlust inside Convention Hall.
“Last year, opening this up, extending past 5th Avenue, was a game changer for us. It’s been amazing since Day One. I’m hoping for a crowd over 50,000,” said Mesanko.
Mesanko and the many store owners along the boardwalk are just a short walk from the two big stages on the north side of Convention Hall.
Sea.Hear.Now organizers put local businesses in the spotlight, adding maps on their apps and Instagram. With the anticipated crowds, more than two dozen summer seasonal employees will return to the Robinson Ale House to work next weekend.
“They want to be here. They want to work here. It’s a really fun time to be here for everybody and be in the middle of the festival,” said manager Victoria Vitetta.
The Friday night kickoff once again showcases Cookman Avenue with free live music and a street-fair atmosphere.
“A lot of people are coming to town, seeing Asbury Park for the first time or first time in a while and they’re always surprised to see the things going on,” said Taka’s bar manager Greg Laplaca.
Until then, there’s work to do, transforming the beach into a venue ready to rock the Jersey Shore.
