The New York Detectives' Endowment Association is calling on the state to investigate Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler for allegedly withholding information in the Megan McDonald murder case while he was in private practice.

McDonald's murder remained unsolved for two decades before ex-boyfriend Edward Holley, 42, was linked to her death.

The Detectives' Endowment Association and Megan's family are now accusing Hoovler of delaying Holley's arrest.

News 12 spoke to legal experts who say a prosecutor is legally and ethically obligated to obey attorney-client confidentiality.

Hoovler denies these allegations, telling News 12 in a statement: "Any suggestion that I did anything to interfere with the investigation into Megan McDonald’s death is as categorically false as it is offensive."
