When elementary school-aged students return to school, teachers will need to help them open many of the items packed for lunch.
Teacher Goals has some tips on what to pack and what not to pack to help your child be more independent:
Here are five items that are easier to open:
- Flip top water bottles
- Bento box/or tupperware
- Ziplock bags
- Reusable sandwich bags
- Twist off snacks
These eight items are harder to open:
- Milk carton
- Juice box with straw to put in it
- Lunchables - these boxes have many packages to open inside of it
- Individual chip/snack bags
- Yogurt Tubes
- Twist off bottles
- Fruit cups
- Some fruits, like clementines and bananas.
Teach your children to open all the items in their lunch box, if they can do it, it will also mean less time waiting for the teacher to open it, and more time eating.
