Captain Anders Lee has left the New York Islanders.

Lee became a free agent Wednesday, and the NHL confirms he's joining the Utah Mammoth. Reports say he's signing a three-year deal worth more than $16 million.

He departs the Islanders after 14 seasons. He spent the last eight years as the Islanders captain, tying him with Hall of Famer Denis Potvin for the longest tenure as Isles captain.

Lee was a sixth-round draft pick who became the face of the Islanders on and off the ice. He leaves with 923 games played, 308 goals and 549 points.
