With the holiday season approaching, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to get ahead and prevent the spread of illness.

The CDC says it is expanding its infectious disease surveillance program at four airports to test for more than 30 pathogens, including flu and RSV.

One of the airports is John F. Kennedy International Airport. The others are Boston Logan International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, and Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

The program began in 2021 to track COVID-19 variants, collecting nasal swabs from volunteer travelers.
