“It started two Tuesdays ago,” said Gary Happich, assistant manager at Salt Shack, the restaurant at Cedar Beach.
He said the water just came in and “started flooding.” Because of rough seas from Hurricane Erin, swimmers weren’t allowed in the ocean.
It wasn’t good for business, which Happich described as “slow.” On top of that, scheduled volleyball games couldn’t happen.
Labor Day beachgoers were surprised to see the still-soggy courts.
The good news: Swimming is allowed — beachgoers just have to make their way around the flooded parts -- and Salt Shack is open for business, with live music happening Labor Day evening.
