Chef teams up with Def Jam records to make Thanksgiving special for seniors in Yonkers
A local chef teamed up with Def Jam records and the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority to help make the Thanksgiving holiday feel special for seniors living in public housing.
Chef Peter Kelly, of X-20, and his team prepared more than 350 gourmet meals that were picked up by the maintenance crew from the Municipal Housing Authority and hand-delivered them to seniors over the age of 55.
"It feels good because sometimes these people don't have anyone," says Jason Finney, a maintenance crew worker. "So, for us to be out here to share our time it feels real good.
The Joint Venture-X-Giving also honors late rapper DMX, who was a former public housing resident. DMX was known for giving out food to those in need throughout Yonkers during the holiday season.
This is the second consecutive year this turkey dinner giveaway was held.
