A well-known children's safety advocate Turned To Tara after losing her voice on social media. 

Maria Trusa, who says she was sexually abused by her father's friend when she was 9 years old, started a campaign to spread awareness about sexual abuse but claims Facebook didn't approve. 

She says her powerful advocacy efforts were suddenly silenced 10 days ago when she got a message that her message "goes against their values."

Trusa says she was kicked off of both Instagram and Facebook after posting a picture of herself completing an Ironman Marathon in Atlanta last month. 

"On my tri-suit, I wrote 'I am a survivor of abuse at age 9,' and I say no more. And then after I put that picture up, they took me down," she says. 

It erased her ability to reach thousands of followers. 'That's why it became too emotional for me because I was shut up for over 47 years, and now I get the strength and courage and talk about it completely -- and now shut up again, and in a way it's traumatizing," she says. 

Trusa says she repeatedly reached out to Facebook's parent company, Meta, but had no luck so she decided to Turn To Tara. 

The Turn To Tara team reached out to Meta, which promised it would immediately look into the problem.
