A member of the City Council is looking to ban pit bulls in the Bronx and the rest of the city.Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Astoria) says the canines are a danger to public safety and should be banned as pets. He says the animals are often used by drug dealers or gang members as weapons. Vallone claims pit bulls are reponsible for several attacks across the city, especially on young children.Pit bull lovers are biting back at Vallone's proposal, calling it unnecessary. They say it all depends on who raises the pit bull. They say if the dog has a good owner, it will be a good pit bull and not cause problems.
