Indian Point Energy Center has a new owner following the nuclear power plant's shutdown a few weeks ago.
Holtec International now officially owns Indian Point and will be in charge of decommissioning and moving the nuclear waste into casts for safe storage.
With natural gas being cheaper than nuclear, Indian Point became too expensive to operate. Also, environmental activists had safety concerns of potential explosions or leaks.
The facility powered millions of homes in the Hudson Valley and employed generations of workers.
Of the 750 total employees, 300 will continue to work at the plant to help with the decommission. Others were relocated to other power plants in the South, and some took retirement packages from Entergy.
