A new report released by the state comptroller's office says the state should consider all options before raising tolls on the New York State Thruway.
Thomas DiNapoli urged the Thruway Authority to resolve systemwide cashless tolling issues, perform a comprehensive operating cost assessment and maximize non-toll revenue sources before charging drivers more.
Last year, the Thruway Authority proposed its first toll hikes for E-ZPass customers in more than a decade.
If approved, tolls could increase by 5% in 2024 and another 5% in 2027.
