An NYPD officer from West Nyack was critically injured Thursday after his motorcycle was rear ended by an alleged drunk driver.
According to police, 27-year-old Brian Rickli was riding his motorcycle home from work when 29-year-old Charlie Linn, of Rivervale, New Jersey, slammed into the back of the bike on Route 59. Police say the impact of the crash tossed Rickli several feet, causing him extensive damage to his legs, including multiple fractures, and trauma. Rickli is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.
Police say Linn had a blood alcohol level of .13 after the crash, which is twice the legal limit. Linn is charged with vehicular assault and DWI. Police say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues. Linn is being held on $50,000 bail at the Rockland County Jail.
