The cost of summer fun with the kids can be pricey. Just stepping outside in this area, it feels like you have to cough up cash.
The city is trying to help New Yorkers out. The city's website offers free or low-cost ideas for family fun.
First, get lost in a book this summer and get in some quiet time at the library. On top of checking out a good read, The New York Public Library and the Brooklyn Public Library offer events for free this summer.
Next, get out and play! The city boasts the fact that there are 1,700 parks in the five boroughs. Want a splash pad or a spray shower? You can enter your ZIP code into the "Cool it NYC" map.
Another amazing benefit about our area is the museums. If you have a library card, sign up for the Culture pass. There is a long list of museums you can go to with this pass for free.
