The Republican candidate for Westchester County executive is once again calling for the repeal of the county's Immigration Protection Act.
Christine Sculti claims the law acts as a sanctuary policy and puts the county at risk of losing millions in federal funding.
According to the county website, the law prevents Westchester from using any resources to assist in federal investigations based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or national origin.
Sculti said if current County Executive Ken Jenkins does not repeal the law, she will if elected.
A county spokesperson said Westchester has never been identified as a sanctuary county and fully complies with federal law. A list of sanctuary jurisdictions released by the DOJ does not include Westchester.
