Passing through the doors of Hillburn Village Hall got safer Tuesday with the implementation of a new security measure.

Village officials have hired Brosnan Risk Consultants, a private security firm from West Nyack, to protect the village court following a shooting at nearby Sloatsburg Courthouse. Mike Davios, of Brosnan Risk Consultants, says his firm will be watching for anyone with guns, knives or even contraband. In addition to watching out for people who are armed, Davios says his firm will also maintain control in the courtroom.

Another security measure in the works at the courtroom includes a sliding-glass window with a partition. Village trustees hope the security tactics will make a huge difference.
