News 12 has confirmed that authorities are investigating a frightening incident involving a South Middle School student in Newburgh Monday.

The Orange County District Attorney says three masked teens boarded a school bus after school and seemingly took the girl.

City police and investigators from the DA’s office responded, and the student was found safely.

A district representative tells News 12 that they reviewed surveillance video from the bus and found that the student was not forcibly taken or abducted, but that they are pursuing criminal charges with law-enforcement.

News 12 reached out to City of Newburgh police for information but haven’t heard back.
