The general manager of Delite Bake Shop in Yonkers says it is ready for this Easter following a July 2024 fire that left the business shuttered for three months, costing the business thousands of dollars.
Eric Jeraci says the devastating fire started in the basement due to an electrical issue in the ceiling. The fire occurred over the bakery's ovens, leaving them completely damaged.
Following the fire, Jeraci says the business had to pay thousands to fix the ovens and basement, and its closure left many of his workers out of a job for three months.
This Easter, the Yonkers staple of over 80 years is fully ready for one of its busiest holidays.
"We're here for Easter and we're really thankful that it could've been a lot worse...so we're really thankful that we made it through," said Jeraci.
Delite Bake Shop will be open today until 7 p.m. and on Easter from 6-3 p.m.
They are not taking any more pre-orders, but do have a fully stocked store for anyone in need of any last minute desserts ahead of the holiday.
