DHS adviser outlines 'encouraging news' about heat, sunlight impact on coronavirus

  • President Trump touts Department of Homeland Security report on how the coronavirus reacts in different temperatures.
  • President Trump says we are "very close to a vaccine" but didn't explain any further.
  • VP Pence says data shows that declines in COVID-19 cases are consistent across America. "We are getting there, America."
  • President Trump: According to a new DHS report on COVID-19, the virus is transmitted more effectively in cold, dry environments. Less effectively in warm, humid conditions.
  • VP Pence says 16 states have released reopening plans. He called it "encouraging."
  • Bill Bryan, the science and technology adviser at DHS, outlines "encouraging news" about the impact that heat and sunlight have on the coronavirus. 
  • Bryan: It would be irresponsible to say "the summer is going to kill the virus."
