State Police are investigating whether a radiologist from Goldens Bridge was trying to commit suicide during a bizarre domestic violence call.

Dr. Steven Wengrover, 56, is being charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment after police say he attacked them with a knife, a machete and his car when they responded to his home on Brundige Road Tuesday.

Troopers say Wengrover's wife called 911 after he attacked her, and when they arrived, he was in the garage, holding a machete and a knife, with the car running. Wengrover then allegedly drove his SUV through the garage door, slamming into a police cruiser, and was taken into custody.

Wengrover has not been arraigned, as police and the district attorney are waiting for him to recover at the hospital.
