Powerful thunderstorms rolled through the Hudson Valley overnight, leaving a trail of damage and power outages in their wake.
A tree fell onto a car on Hempstead Road in Spring Valley, though it was unclear if anyone was injured.
The storms also wreaked havoc in Orange County, where dozens of downed trees brought down power lines, causing outages throughout the county.
One woman and her 2-year-old daughter escaped unharmed after a tree fell onto their home.
"I was in my living room and I heard a crash. I thought it was an earthquake," said Ariel Santoro. "I came outside and I realized that a giant tree fell on top of my roof, and I found a whole bunch of water coming into my front door."
Smith Clove Road in Highland Mills was closed due to downed wires.
