Dozens of firefighters throughout the Hudson Valley gave a drive-by salute on Saturday to Darius Lloyd, son of fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd, before his 5th birthday.

Jared Lloyd, 35, a Spring Valley volunteer firefighter, died in the line of duty while battling a nursing home blaze in March.

On Saturday, dozens of firefighters drove by his dad’s firehouse in Spring Valley. Lloyd’s fellow firefighters say it was also a way to honor his memory while saying happy birthday to his son.

"He's very excited because everyone's here,” said Raina Fader, Darius’ mother.
