An overall very dry stretch of weather continues this week. Expect a mix of sun and clouds the rest of the week with cool, but seasonable weather Tuesday through Friday. The weekend still looks dry and likely a bit warmer with high temperatures returning to the low to mid-70s before turning cooler into next week again. Hurricane Milton is going to be the major weather story this week. There are no local impacts, but this storm will make landfall in Florida by Wednesday evening likely as a major hurricane.

DROUGHT MONITOR: Abnormally dry conditions still exist for a lot of the lower Hudson Valley. If mostly dry weather persists over the next few weeks, drought conditions will be possible.

FOLIAGE: Areas north of I-84 are experiencing the best local colors right now with scattered fall foliage elsewhere.

TROPICS: This is going to be another terrible week for Florida unfortunately as Hurricane Milton will provide life-threatening conditions, making landfall anywhere from close to Tampa south through around Fort Myers Wednesday evening as potentially a major hurricane. Hurricanes Kirk and Leslie are still out in the Atlantic Ocean, but do not pose any risk to the United States.

FORECAST:

TODAY: There were a couple of early morning showers but expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs around 70 degrees this afternoon. Overall, it is a very nice day.

TONIGHT: Mainly clear and chilly with lows around 50 degrees. Parts of Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster Counties will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s into early Tuesday morning.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonable. Highs around 66 degrees. Lows near 45 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 64 degrees. Lows near 45 degrees. THURSDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 64 degrees. Lows near 43 degrees. FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs around 68 degrees. Lows near 50 degrees. SATURDAY: Nice and warmer with highs around 75 degrees under a mostly sunny sky. Lows near 52 degrees.
