The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says drones helped them locate a man whose boat had run aground.
They received a report that the man was in crisis and armed with a gun on the Hudson River. The man also threatened to shoot anyone who came close.
Drones allowed deputies to send messages to him, and he eventually came out of a hatch unarmed.
The man was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
