E-scooter rider seriously injured in Amityville crash

The 35-year-old was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

A man who was riding an e-scooter was seriously injured after a crash Saturday afternoon in Amityville.

Suffolk police say Richard Newton, of Lindenhurst, went through a red light while going east on Louden Avenue and collided with a car that was going south on County Line Road at 3:30 p.m.

The 35-year-old was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The 21-year-old driver was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Suffolk police ask anyone with information about the crash to call the First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
