More than 30 residents of the Harvest House Senior Living Facility in Spring Valley enjoyed free meals on Sunday, thanks to the kindness of friends, neighbors and a local church.
Many of the Feb. 28 fire victims have been temporarily living in a Red Cross Shelter. The stoves normally used to cook their meals at Harvest House were disconnected as a precaution.
Deborah Carter, whose parents live at the facility, said donations from her friends and members of the First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, helped to pay for the hot meals that included soft drinks, bottled water, chicken and macaroni, and cheese.
Resident Abdon Jabouin also thanked the Red Cross for, "helping me in my time of need."
Most of the displaced fire victims are expected to return to their homes by next week.
