A former NYPD officer from Goshen has been charged with more than a dozen crimes after he allegedly left his dogs to freeze and starve over the Christmas Eve weekend.
Erick Flores is facing 19 counts of animal cruelty and neglect after authorities say he abandoned his 9 dogs in below-freezing temperatures.
Officials say the dogs were found alive, tied outside to trees and in his freezing cold garage on Knoll Road, without food or water.
They say Flores left town without making plans for someone to care for the dogs and that there was no sign of him at his home for at least 16 days.
Flores is due in Goshen town court March 14.
