The former Rockland legislator forced out of his job amid a sex scandal entered a not guilty plea Monday in a separate DWI case.
Investigators say Ryan Karben, 33, was drunk behind the wheel of his Acura SUV when he crashed into a utility pole on Brick Church Road in Ramapo in January. Karben claims he swerved to miss hitting a deer, but refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
The former New York assemblyman resigned in 2006 amid a sex scandal that involved male interns. He currently works as a deputy attorney for the village of Spring Valley.
While a trial is pending, Karben?s license has been suspended.
