Hundreds of families attended a Three Kings Day celebration Saturday hosted by state Sen. Ruben Diaz and his son Ruben Diaz, Jr. at P.S. 5 in Longwood.
Three Kings Day is a traditional holiday observed by Christians to remember the visit of the three wise men after the birth of Jesus. Sen. Diaz coordinated the event, which brought together various Bronx organizations, including many civic organizations from the Taiwanese community, to provide toys, games and even backpacks filled with supplies to more than 1,000 children.
The holiday was previously celebrated Jan. 6 before the Vatican changed the date to the first Sunday following New Year?s Day.
