Norwalk shines blue for Autism Acceptance Month

The Taconic Road Runners Club hosted their annual Mother's Day 5K Race at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights on Sunday.

Organizers from the run club said they've been holding the event for decades. They put it together so moms can something fun and active to do on their special day.

News 12 caught up with Gina Fitzsimons and her daughter, Julia, after they finished the race. Fitzsimons said the Mother's Day 5K is the first race that they've done together.

"Julia's an athlete and I'm a nurse…we wanted to start our day and celebrate each other and women being healthy in Yorktown," Fitzsimons said.
